CAR ALARMS

The New Zealand Security Association (NZSA) have developed a star rating system for vehicle security systems and OEM alarm upgrades.

A 5 Star car alarm system (the highest rating) is a full security alarm system including automatic engine immobilisation, battery backup siren and interior protection. The lowest (1 Star) consists of a uncertified engine immobiliser.

The Star system uses AS/NZS3749 2003 or AS/NZS4601 1999 amendment 1 (2003) as a basis for compliance, depending on the star rating and features of the system.

Harvest Labs performs testing to both these standards.

For more information on the Star rating system, go to NZSA
