New Zealand and Australia Local Agency Approval Services

Harvest labs provides local compliance folder services for New Zealand and Australia relating to telecommunications approvals in New Zealand and Australia.

NEW ZEALAND TELECOM APPROVALS

New Zealand Telecom Telepermit ApprovalFor New Zealand, telecommunications devices connected to, or operating in conjunction with networks operated by New Zealand Telecom, are required to hold a formal approval known as a telepermit. A Telepermit indicates that a product may be connected to the Telecom New Zealand network, while each product model is granted a unique telepermit number .

Telepermits are granted by either the Access Standards team or the Mobile team of NZ Telecom, to the applicant when the product meets the PTC and TNA Specifications. Applicants must be New Zealand based entities.

Harvest Labs, through our associated approvals company Approval Specialists (NZ) Limited, holds telepermits on behalf of overseas companies. Telepermit documentation is held on-line for easy downloading and updating of reports

AUSTRALIAN TELECOMMUNICATIONS APPROVALS

The regulator in Australia, known as the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) administers a self declaration based regime based on standards referenced within the Telecommunications Labelling (Customer Equipment & Customer Cabling) Notice 2001

AUSTRALIAN and NEW ZEALAND, EMC and WIRELESS DEVICE APPROVALS

The ACMA in Australia and the New Zealand Ministry of Economic Development Radio Spectrum Management group (RSM) are responsible for wireless device compliance in their respective countries. Under the Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition Arrangement (TTMRA), there is Mutual recognition of compliance mark in New Zealand and Australia

The TTMRA covers Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Compliance of electrical and electronic products and a wide range of radio products.

C-tickC-tick or RCM labelled products meeting Australian EMC requirements automatically meet the EMC requirements for supply, distribution and sale in New Zealand. Reciprocal provisions apply to products supplied from New Zealand.

Wireless device approvals are similar. Different wireless devices have different conformity levels and thus requirements for compliance. Where radio products fall within levels of conformity A1, A2 and A3 (note 802.11x and Bluetooth are A1) and they have been labelled with an Australian Supplier Code Number and the C-Tick compliance mark for supply to the Australian market and these products are then supplied to the New Zealand market, the NZ RSM does not require the supplier to remove the Australian Supplier Code Number and the C-Tick compliance mark.

The supplier or their agent must, however, apply a New Zealand Supplier Code Number label to the product and hold a compliance folder for the product New Zealand. For Australian or International companies that do not a local NZ entity, we offer our local agent services for only a few hundred $$. We hold compliance folders on-line, in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and other countries.
